Vet Schools in Washington

In order to become a vet tech or a veterinarian, you first need to get a degree. In Washington, there are at least three options if you intend to become a veterinarian in the state of Washington. Vet schools usually include a two-year vet tech program, through which you can become a vet tech, or a four-year vet doctorate program, through which you could become a veterinarian.

  1. Washington State Veterinary College

    • Washington State Veterinary College, located in Pullman, Washington has four-year veterinary degrees, and two-year associate degrees in veterinary tech studies. With the tech degree, students can get a job as a vet tech in any of the veterinary clinics in the United States. With a four-year degree, students can have a doctorate in veterinary medicine, and can become a licensed veterinarian. Many students at Washington State take the two-year degree program first, and then continue to take the four-year program.

    University of Washington Vet School

    • At the University of Washington Vet School, students can participate in a wide variety of campus activities while getting their four-year veterinary medicine degree. The University of Washington Veterinary School is specialized, so a bachelor's degree in biology or science is usually considered to be a precursor to education there. The school is located in Seattle, and many students do their vet work during school in one of the hundreds of veterinary offices located in that city, in order to gain experience while studying.

    ITT Technical Institute Seattle

    • ITT Technical Institute, located in Seattle, has two-year pre-veterinary programs, and four-year, full veterinary programs. The two-year degree, which is an associate degree, can be a precursor to a full veterinary degree, or it can be a vet tech degree, which can stand alone. Students at ITT technical institute can also benefit from easy credit transfers between one of the hundreds of ITT schools around the country.
