Grants for Businesses Offering Training for Women

A multitude of grants specifically for women are available for training. The American Association of University Women (AAUW) has been advocating for the education and equality of women since 1881. The AAUW grants funds to non-profit organizations for the education of women. The Mayer Foundation grants funds to low economic status high school, undergraduate and master's level women pursuing degrees in accredited colleges and grants funds to nonprofit organizations that educate women.

  1. The Mayer Foundation

    • Incorporated in 2002, the Mayer Foundation makes $2,500 to $5,000 grants to individuals and private organizations. The Mission of the Mayer Foundation is to help low income high school students, undergraduate and graduate college students who are suffering due to death of a wage owner, loss of employment or temporary poverty with scholarships and student aid. The grant is to allow the student to complete an undergraduate or graduate education at an accredited college. The Mayer Foundation makes grants to non-profit organizations with IRS 501(C)(3) status that educate women and advance their humanitarian purposes.

    American Association of University Women

    • The most prestigious source of funds for a business offering training for women is the American Association of University Women (AAUW). The AAUW advocates education and equity for women and girls. The AAUW awards $2,000 to $12,000 Career Development Grants to women who graduated from college and are advancing their careers or changing careers. Women of color pursuing their first degree or credentials receive special consideration. Grants can be used for course work to get a master's degree or technical training in a professional field. Only courses from an accredited college or university in the United States or accredited by the U.S. Department of Education will be considered. Tuition for Ph.D. courses is not covered by this grant.

    • "Funds Net Services" lists hundreds of sources of grant funds for women and for the education of women. Many grant funds to nonprofits that benefit women. Georgia Pacific Foundation, established in 1958, funds nonprofits in areas where Georgia Pacific employees live. The Georgia Pacific Foundation invests money in education, the environment, enrichment and entrepreneurship. Georgia Pacific Foundation also contributes to disaster relief projects. Macy's Foundation funds HIV/AIDS research focusing on minority women. Macy's contributes to women, their culture, education and their environment. Macy's foundation requires a query letter and does not accept unsolicited applications.
