Seasonal Jobs for College Students
Many college students have free time during certain seasons to relax, but some students prefer making some extra money. Seasonal jobs would be a perfect fit because they require late night and weekend shifts. Jobs range from a simple cashier or a stock person to a part-time bookkeeper. In any case, these jobs would give students the extra cash they need for daily expenses during school and vacation.

Retail
-
Many different retail stores offer seasonal jobs. Tasks range from being a cashier to replenishing the floor with merchandise. These jobs also offer decent wages, typically starting above minimum wage. College students can apply either online on the company's website or in person by filling out an application. Retail jobs are great ways to gain communication skills by helping customers and meeting new people on the job.
Bookkeeping
-
Part-time bookkeeping is another seasonal job for a more qualified college student. Bookkeeping jobs require more concentration, but the pay is normally better than that of a retail job. This type of job also revolves around a normal 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. work schedule. College students can find bookkeeping jobs online or through school career centers.

Odd Jobs
-
College students can find other jobs besides retail or financial-based jobs during seasonal periods. Look for other odd jobs that may be needed in the neighborhood, such as babysitting or shoveling snow. Families are always looking for an extra hand around town, and college students are perfect for watching over children or tidying up a household while the parents are at work or out to dinner. During the winter season, college students are sometimes the first ones going door-to-door to offer snow shoveling services for a fee. These odd jobs are normally not posted online, but if an ambitious college student wants to do something besides work for a business, she can post up fliers around the neighborhood.
Town Jobs
-
Community civic centers and recreational parks are always looking for help during the seasonal periods. College students may apply at the town hall or the park office to become a lifeguard, a beach patrol officer, a landscaper or a maintenance worker. Many college students are attracted to the outdoor weather during the summer, so being a lifeguard is always an exciting job. However, college students must be trained for emergency situations before acquiring the job. Working in a park maintenance job is another way to enjoy the outdoor weather. These jobs include fixing water structures, such as fountains, or maintaining sporting fields. Whatever the job may be, college students have many different choices from which to choose. These jobs not only help students make extra money, but they also allow college students to manage old skills and create new ones.
