Natural Hairstyles for Weddings

Although there is something special about getting dolled up on your wedding day, it is still important to stay true to your style. You want your husband-to-be to see the woman walking down the aisle that he proposed to, not someone that he barely recognizes. If you are generally not one for lots of makeup or fancy hairdos, it is best to stick to that style for your wedding day, too. You can still be elegant and beautiful and stay true to your real style, starting with your natural hairstyle. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Chignon

    • A chignon is either a tight or loose bun at the base of your neck. It can have a very natural look by letting hair pieces loosely fall in the front or around the chignon. The bun can be composed of curls or straight hair, depending on the look you are going for. A loose chignon hairstyle works well for beach weddings or other outdoor ceremonies that have a natural theme. Pins or other embellishments can be added to a chignon to give it another element to match your dress or the rest of the bridal party. This style requires hair that is at least shoulder-length. A chignon can have the appearance of being a natural hairstyle but still be safe and secure to get you through your big day.

    Half Up, Half Down

    • No matter what the length of your hair is, you can style your hair half up and half down for your wedding day. This look gets the hair out of your face and has a classy, natural appearance. You can put the top half of your hair up by placing it in a bun, in curls, in barrettes and pins that are either hidden or embellished or in a braid. Much of deciding how to put up the top half of your hairstyle will depend on your hair type. If you have straight hair you may prefer something new, such as cascading curls. If you have curls you may prefer to do the opposite and have it straightened and put the top portion in a bun.

This look can last throughout the day and be a nice compromise between having all of your hair up or all of it down. This natural wedding hairstyle can suit almost any length and type of hair.

    Long and Down

    • If you have especially long hair, why not show it off? Wearing your long, beautiful hair down with little product is about as natural of a hairstyle as you can get. You may want to curl it slightly or tousle it so it has a little bit of a wave, but in general you would need to do very little to it. To get it to stay somewhat tame it may be important to use a lot of hairspray. This type of style may not be optimal if you intend on getting married outside due to the possibility of wind but could be an option for creating a natural look on your wedding day.
