Unique Braids for Men
-
-
Braids are a great way for men to neaten up long hair for special occasions and even for everyday wear. Braids are a cultural statement for many, and an occasional change of pace for others. Although the braiding of hair dates back to ancient tribes, modern history has brought us some unique braid styles worn by both men and women today. Cornrow braids are popular and when using this technique, you should accomplish many of these unique styles easily.
Two-Stranded Twist
-
A two-stranded twist is a very funky and unique hairstyle for shorter hair. You can use this technique as long as the hair is at least 1/2 inch long. Part the hair into small sections and use two strands for each section, twisting the two stands together to their ends. Continue in small sections until you have as much hair done on the head as you would like for this style. This is an easy design to use for the entire head.
Add Bling to Your Braids
-
Do the entire head in small braids and use two or three silver beads per braid to push the hair through as you are braiding. Place the beads at equal lengths on the braids to give a more professional and uniformed look to this technique.
If this is too much bling for you, just use one bead for the bottom of each braid. Beads for this hairstyle are sold at any craft shop, but they must have a large enough hole in them to be able to put the hair through it. Beauty outlets also sell hair beads or charms for this purpose.
Cornrow to Braid
-
Braid lines of tight cornrows starting from the forehead to the back crown area of the head. Let the cornrows drop into braids from the back of the head down. This look gives you the tight, neat hair on top and loose braids around the sides and back of your head. If you like, put one silver or gold bead on the end of each cornrow to add some glimmer.
Starburst Cornrows
-
Create a unique starburst pattern out of cornrows. Starting from dead center on the top of your head, braid cornrows out and down the sides of your head. Each row should be equal lengths apart. Finish this off with one large cornrow on either side of your head that picks up the ends of the starburst cornrows. The large braids should start at your temples and meet at the nape of your neck.
For bling, you can add in a few silver beads on the braids coming from your temples, but do not do too much to take away from the starburst design.
