Horseback Riding Tours in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

The battle of Gettysburg took place over a three-day span in 1863. Now a National Park, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, is toured by thousands of people every year. Horseback riding tours have become more and more popular as it gives you a greater idea as to what soldiers went through and what they saw. What better way to understand the history of Gettysburg than by riding on horseback through the battlefield, or looking out over Pickett's Charge where many boys and men lost their lives? Many of the horseback riding tours in Gettysburg range in length but most visit all of the main sites.

  1. Artillery Ridge

    • Artillery Ridge offers both one- and two-hour horseback riding tours. One-hour tours take you to where the battle was fought, while the two-hour tours take you all throughout the sites and monuments where the battle took place. Reservations are recommended in advance as horseback riding tours are very popular in the area. All levels of riders, novice to advance, are welcome to participate in the tour.

    Hickory Hollow Farm

    • Two different types of horseback riding tours are offered at the Hickory Hollow Farm. Those interested in the history of Gettysburg can sign up for the two to five-hour tour with a park service historian. The tour guide serves as a narrator during the ride and tells stories of Gettysburg throughout the tour. The regular one to four-hour tour takes you through the Gettysburg battlefield, including the monuments, and shows you where soldiers hid, before and after the battle. The minimum age to ride at Hickory Hollow Farm is 8. Helmets are provided at the Hickory Hollow Farm for riders.

    Cornerstone Farm

    • The Cornerstone Farm, first built in 1880, is a bed and breakfast. The grounds that the Cornerstone Farm sits upon was used by Confederate soldiers as a campsite during the battle of Gettysburg. Horseback riding tours are available at the Cornerstone Farm and is open to the public. Tours are generally two hours and they take you to Pickett's Charge, the Gettysburg battlefield and Little Round Top. Longer tours are available upon request. All horseback riding tours begin and end at the Cornerstone Farm.
