Cute Scrapbook Ideas
Creating a scrapbook page that enhances and embellishes your pictures preserves the story behind the photos, the look on your child's face, and the feeling you had the moment that image was captured. Without going overboard--the pictures speak for themselves--there are several cute scrapbooking ideas you can use to present your photos in an appealing way while safely preserving them for the future.

Playful Backgrounds
-
The paper behind your photos is the basic element of the scrapbook page. Whether you're making an 8 x 8 album, an 8.5 x 11 size or a 12 x 12 memory book (all popular sizes), cute paper is everywhere. Visit craft stores (most have large scrapbook departments) or go online and search for "cute scrapbooking paper." Keep in mind that the busier the background paper is, the more you'll have to mat your photos to make them stand out. To mat a photo, cut a piece of plain card stock slightly larger than the photo, center the photo on the card stock, and adhere it with acid-free glue. Try some of these ideas for background papers. For cute pet pages, choose paper with little dogs or cats, fish, snakes or even insects. For kid pages, instead of the typical blue or pink, choose a background of yellow ducks, Legos, toys, Crayons, ice cream or little stick figures of kids. Start baby pages with playful backgrounds, such as diaper pins, smiling baby faces, diapers, bottles, rattles, bubbles or bathtubs.
Lighthearted Fonts
-
Titles, photo captions, journaling and quotes are all cuter when written or printed in whimsical fonts. Many free fonts for scrapbooking are available. In fact, many websites that offer them have step-by-step instructions for downloading, installing and using the fonts on your own computer. One word of caution: Don't mix too many fonts on a single page, or it starts looking cluttered. Two fonts per page is a good rule of thumb. Try some of these free cute fonts, available by clicking on the corresponding letter of the alphabet on the left-hand side of the Scrap Village site (scrapvillage.com/fonts.htm), such as a yummy apology (click "A" for this font), boys r gross, fancy pants, fingerprints (good for all kid pages), germs (great for little boy pages), julesgirltalk (great for little girl pages), kids, love letters (imagine this one with kitten or puppy pages), mcsweetie hearts (definitely for little girls) and schnookums.

Cute Quotes
-
Begin with a playful background paper. Add cute photos. Use a lighthearted font to create a title and do your journaling. Now what? A cute quote can really set the tone for the page, and give it a finishing touch. Quotes are readily available on the Internet for free. Search for cute quotes in several ways. Type "cute quotes" into a search engine. Or, narrow your search by typing in specific words that correspond to your layout. For example, "cute baby quote" offers many sites that offer quotes, some dedicated to scrapbooking quotes. How about a picture of your cute little boy wearing nothing but a diaper. Now add this quote from Great Inspirational Quotes: "No one likes change but babies in diapers." With a picture of your kids wrestling with their new puppy, add this quote from Cute Pet Quotes: "Whoever said you can't buy happiness forgot little puppies."
