Navy Master-at-Arms Requirements

The Master-at-Arms (MA) rating within the Navy performs many duties such as anti-terrorism, force protection, investigations, and security. The MA has to meet the basic Navy requirement as any other candidate.

Basic Naval Requirements

The candidate must be a U.S. citizen, hold a current driver's license, have good command of the English language, normal color perception, 20/20 correctable sight, and normal hearing. The candidate must be able to pass the Navy physical fitness requirements as well as a medical exam. The candidate must not have any criminal convictions, a history of mental disorders, or problems with alcohol or drugs.

Schools

The candidate must attend three job schools: 40 days at Lackland AFB in TX, 50 days at Hampton Roads, VA, and 50 days at Kings Bay, GA.

ASVAB Score

The candidate must pass the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) testing with a minimum score of 45 in word knowledge and a minimum score of 55 in arithmetic reasoning. The candidate must pass with a combined score of 100.

Security Clearance

The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
