Lyrica CV Side Effects

Lyrica CV is an oral medication prescribed for several different disorders including Neuropathic pain, Postherpetic neuralgia, patients with partial onset seizures, Renal Impairment and for the management of Fibromyalgia. Lyrica is a prescription drug and as with any prescription drug, Lyrica is not without side effects.

  1. Angioedema

    • Angioedema symptoms include swelling of the mouth, face and neck. Angioedema could lead to life threatening situations that cause respiratory compromise and distress that requires emergency treatment.

    Hypersensitivity

    • Some patients taking Lyrica have experienced reactions that include hives, blisters on the skin, skin redness and wheezing.

    Withdrawal Seizures

    • Discontinuing Lyrica should be done gradually to minimize the risk of increasing the frequency of seizures in patients who have seizure disorders.

    Suicidal Behavior

    • Taking Lyrica can increase the risk of suicidal behavior or thoughts in some patients. Patients who are being treated with any AED should be monitored closely for increasing depression or unusual behavior or mood changes.

    Weight Gain

    • Lyrica may cause weight gain in some patients, related to the dosage and duration of treatment with Lyrica. Weight gain while taking Lyrica in clinical trials was noted to be at 7 to 9 percent of the patient's baseline weight.

    Dizziness

    • Dizziness and somnolence may be caused by taking Lyrica and may impair a patient's ability to perform daily tasks such as operating machinery or driving a vehicle.
