Motorcycles come in many shapes and sizes.

Motorcycles are an iconic image of a free-living life on the road and answering to no one. However, many people ride motorcycles for recreation, which includes racing and even performing tricks. Kids don’t have access to motorcycles for these purposes, so motorcycle games can help them experience the thrill of riding without the danger of crashing.

Rocket Bike

“Rocket Bike, a free online game available at the Online Games website, puts players in control of a motorcycle rider who is competing with up to three opponents. Players select the amount of opponents they’d like to race at the beginning of the game. Players must fly into the air off of ramps to get massive air and gain speed. Conversely, they must avoid sand traps that slow them down. Hitting the x button gives your players the rocket boost they need to win. Players control their bike by pressing up to move up on the track, down to move down, left to move left, right to accelerate and space to brake suddenly. Pressing the z button gives players the opportunity to use a weapon on their opponent. Get to the end of the level first to win and move on to more difficult levels. The cartoonish graphics and simple controls make this appropriate for kids.

Micro Rider

Micro Rider, a free online game available at the Game Olay website, takes a more humorous approach to riding motorcycles. Players take control of a bike rider that is much smaller than his surroundings. He must ride over top of hills in early levels, but later levels finds him racing over children’s toys and other larger-than-life objects. Instead of focusing on tricks and speed, this game focuses on careful balancing and landing from jumps. Players accelerate with the up button on the keyboard, brake with down and balance while in the air with the left and right button. Players must land carefully after big jumps or they’ll crash and the game will end. However, players can try any level as much as they want. The humorous levels and the forgiving replay system make this fun for younger children.

Risky Rider

Risky Rider, a free online game available at the Bike Games website, focuses almost entirely on pulling off fun and exciting tricks. Players press the up button to accelerate, the down button to brake and use the left and right buttons to spin in the air. While in the air, players must pull off a string of complex tricks to rack up major points. Players can press the space bar, z, x, c and v to pull off tricks. However, pulling off dozens of tricks is of no use if you don’t land. Crashing ends the level immediately and takes you back to the beginning with no points scored. Landing scores points and moves you on to the next level. The controls in this game are very simple. The graphics are easy on the eye and easy to understand. Any kid who worships motorcycle stuntmen will enjoy this game.
