Xmas Gifts for Overseas Military
When the holidays approach, it is easy to find the perfect gift for friends and family who live near us. But when we need to find a gift to send overseas to loved ones stationed with the military, it becomes trickier to find a gift that will make their holiday. The men and women fighting overseas need specific items that will make their stay easier and happier.
-
Personal Care
-
Personal care items are popular to send to soldiers to keep them more comfortable when working overseas. Both men and women will appreciate lip balm, anti-chaffing powder, dental floss, deodorant and disposable razors. They will also use shampoo, soap, sunscreen and lotions. Women will appreciate feminine hygiene products as well. Be sure to check your soldier's guidelines on personal care items; some camps do not allow scented products. Other items that will make life easier for your soldier include bandannas for sandstorms, Kleenex, toilet paper, socks, underwear, boot insoles and pain reliever medication.
Food
-
Nothing beats home cooking, but little reminders of home may bring a smile to your soldier during the holiday season. Food items that are appreciated as overseas gifts include hard candy, condiment packets, chips that come in a can, pudding cups, powdered sports drinks, and various spices. Remember to not send chocolate, since it will melt on the way there.

Entertainment
-
Although our men and women overseas work long days, they get a good amount of down time, which means they need fun things to do. Good gifts include crossword puzzles and word searches, DVDs (even the cheap ones from the dollar store), magazines and thin books. Comic books are also popular, and can be found on the Internet or at specialty comic book stores. Remember that most of the things sent to them will not fit in their bags to come back, so bulky gifts may get in the way.
