Personalized 1st Birthday Gifts for Twins
Personalized birthday gifts for one year olds can become a coveted treasure or keepsake later. This is especially true for twins, as they tend to struggle to create individual identities instead of always being lumped together. Give each twin something that's personalized for their first birthday.
-
Clothing
-
Give each child a T-shirt, onesie or sweater that says "We're One Today." Further personalize the shirts by adding their picture or using cartoon babies drawn in their likeness. You could also have each baby's name stitched or painted onto shirts with one birthday balloon.
Bibs or Blankets
-
Have bibs, blankets or hats embroidered with each baby's name, initials, a birthday phrase or "Birthday Boy" or "Birthday Girl." The items---handmade or store-bought---can incorporate something different about each twin. For example, a blanket with turtles on it would be ideal for the baby who seems to like turtles, while trains might interest his brother. If you haven't noticed individual preferences, sew or embroider their names into their blankets using different colors.
-
Candles
-
Give each baby a numbered birthday candle that lists each birthday through age 18 or 21. The candle is divided into segments---one for each year of age---with the baby's name and date of birth on the bottom. Each birthday, the candle burns away one segment, indicating the age milestone the baby has reached.
Keepsakes
-
To help parents preserve the memories of each child's first year, give a large picture frame with the baby's name and the words "First Birthday" engraved on it, or a frame with 12 small cutouts (one for each month) around a larger space for the birthday picture. Stuffed animals with the babies' names stitched on an attached blanket or T-shirt also work as keepsakes, with or without personalized picture album. Add at least one toy with any keepsake gift, so the babies have something they can play with.
Chairs
-
Personalized chairs---with names painted or engraved on---give one-year-old twins their own place to sit. For a more functional gift, choose wooden potty chairs. Use an easy-to-read font to help the babies learn to recognize their names, and include some other detail on each chair so they're easy to tell apart. For example, one chair could have a red and black ladybug while the other has a purple butterfly.
