The Best Networking Courses

As the need for networks continues to grow, so will the need for network technicians. These are highly technical jobs that require training and certifications. Networking courses provide that training and prepare you for certification tests. The best courses prepare you for valuable certifications that prove you have the knowledge and skills to perform high-end--and high-paying--jobs. The three best certification companies are CompTIA, Cisco and Microsoft. You should look for courses that prepare you for their certifications.

CompTIA

CompTIA offers several certifications for which the best courses prepare you. The Network+ and Server+ certifications offer a general knowledge of network engineering and administration, respectively. A course that prepares you for one of these certifications will lead to an entry-level position. CompTIA's A+ and DHTI+ classes are not completely about networking, but can be used to supplement your knowledge and training.

Cisco

Offered exclusively through Cisco learning partners, Cisco certification classes prepare you for a career in network engineering. Its Certified Cisco Network Associate (CCNA) certification is the first place you should start if this is the area you want to go into. Above that, the CCNP (Network Professional) and CCIE (Internetworking Expert) are advanced classes that can lead to very high-paying positions.

Microsoft

In 2008, Microsoft changed its certification model to a four-tiered system, the Technology, Professional, Master, and Architect series. The Professional-level Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) is now the premier Microsoft certification. Fourteen classes prepare you for the 12 certifications required to reach MCITP. Those looking to enter the network administration field should strive for this certification.
