Jungle Theme Homecoming Ideas
You're on the homecoming planning committee this year. You and your team have decided on a jungle theme, but are not sure how to pull it off. You have some design ideas, but nothing really cohesive you could use to pull everything together. Time is ticking away and you have to present a good jungle theme to the staff and students.

Island Jungle Fantasy
-
An island jungle fantasy would make a good theme for homecoming. Decorate using your jungle theme, but add some decorations that would be used on an island. A large scroll-style map displayed on a wall makes a nice decoration. Use parchment paper and a teabag to color a large sheet of butcher block paper. Use markers to create a fake map of the island and write the name of your theme in the center of the map. Other decorations might be a large compass, a canoe and foods you might find on a jungle island. You could get really creative and make your homecoming look like the set of King Kong. A giant cage would be a fun way to convey this idea.
Survivor Theme
-
Make your jungle theme look like the popular television show Survivor. Your teens will feel like they are immersed in the game when they are surrounded by tiki torches, idols and makeshift huts. You could put together Survivor teams with jungle island names and hold competitions. At the end of homecoming week, you could announce which tribe has won and who has been voted off.

Polynesian Sunset
-
Polynesian islands are known for their beautiful beaches and thick jungles. Add luau decorations to your jungle theme and you have a Polynesian island. Give leis to the students and decorate tables with grass skirts. Use lots of plastic coconuts and tropical silk flowers. Use a projector to show the image of a beach sunset on a wall of the school gym or wherever the homecoming dance will be held.
It's a Jungle Out There
-
This could be a unique mix of tall buildings and jungle decorations. It is city meets jungle with this theme. Make tall buildings out of cardboard and plywood. Paint lots of windows on the buildings. String silk greenery like vines around the buildings and have bushes hanging out an occasional cut-out window. Do not go too overboard with this theme. You do not want to project the image of a post-apocalyptic society.
