      Yale University School of Art

      • As a Yale College undergraduate art major, students will be exposed to various forms of graphic design including media and visual arts. Once students choose an area of study to specialize in, they can pick between a degree in Graphic Design, Painting and Printmaking, Photography, and Sculpture. Admission to Yale University School of Art is as competitive as admission into Yale University general courses. Not only must students be at the top of their high school classes, they must also conform to strict guidelines for submitting their portfolio to the admissions team. For example, a graphic design portfolio must be submitted in Mac OS format as well as include a total of 20 still images. A greater portion of the images must have been created in the past 12 months and under no circumstances should more than two detail shots be included. Requirements for Painting and Printmaking applicants are similar to those of a graphic design applicant: digital files to be submitted in Mac OS format and a total of 16 still images must be submitted. Applicants are urged to carefully read the portfolio requirements page on the Yale University School of Art web page.
