Flat abs can be obtained by performing quality exercise and understanding diet basics. The body must burn fat in key areas in order for you to really be able to see the abs. All people have abdominal muscles, but they are often hidden behind a layer of fat that must be burned off for them to be displayed.
  2. Abs Workout

  3. During your workouts, focus on the abs for a minimum of three times per week for 20 minutes each session. The idea when performing the exercise is that it must be done correctly. Quality is far more important than quantity, and more reps do not equal more results. Learn the right form to take and perform each exercise slowly.
Whichever abs exercises your choose to perform, they should be done in cycles of 15 to 20 repetitions each. Try as much as possible to minimize the amount of rest you give yourself between reps and different exercises.
Crunches are performed while lying flat on your back. Bend your knees and place your hands behind the head. Curl your body so that your shoulders come slightly off the ground. Maintain the same head position throughout the movement. Hold the position for a moment and lower back down to the ground.
A twisting crunch is performed in the same fashion as the basic crunch, but with one difference. When you motion your body up to begin the lift, twist your right shoulder to come across your body in the direction of the left knee. With the next motion, it should be your left shoulder to the right knee. Alternate your motion with each lift.
  4. Weight Training

  5. To obtain nice abs through weight training, more reps are needed with light weights as opposed to heavy lifting. You body burns many calories for muscle growth. Once you begin to strengthen muscles throughout your body, more calories will be burned. This will occur even while at rest and when the muscles are recovering from a workout.
  6. Diet Basics

  7. A proper abs-enhancing diet must avoid typical junk foods such as candy, sodas, cakes and fried food items. These are all high in saturated fats and sugars, and can create a stomach bulge. Replace these items with fruits and nuts, which provide your body with plenty of natural sugars that give the same feeling of energy derived from junk foods without all the negatives.
Water consumption is crucial in your diet. Water helps keep your metabolism running smoothly and avoids the dehydration that can occur during exercise. It also aids in flushing toxins out of your body.
