Ways to Reduce Wrinkles

  1. The media is rife with advertisements on how to reduce and eliminate wrinkles. There are a ton of commercials, billboards, Internet banners and websites anxious to convince us they have the most effective, revolutionary anti-wrinkle cream on the market. However, there are a few natural methods that all of us can utilize to reduce the appearance of wrinkled skin.
  2. Refrain From Sun And Smoke

  3. These two irritants are major causes of wrinkles. Exposure to the sun is the main cause of premature wrinkling of the skin. Avoid the sun whenever possible. If it is unavoidable, be sure to wear sunscreen that blocks UVA and UVB rays on areas of skin that are exposed. Do not smoke and keep exposure to second hand smoke as minimal as possible. Chemicals in smoke break down the collagen and elastin in skin causing wrinkles.
  4. Diet

  5. Diet plays a major role in keeping skin healthy and wrinkle free. Fruits and vegetables contain antioxidants that fight free radicals in our body. These free radicals can lead to premature aging. Some of the most potent, antioxidant rich fruits and veggies are blueberries, cranberries, strawberries, spinach, broccoli and cauliflower.

    Protein and Omega 3 fatty acids help maintain skin health and moisture. The best way to obtain both are from fresh fish such as albacore tuna, mackerel and rainbow trout. They nourish our skin and help strengthen the immune system which can prevent premature aging.
  6. Sleep

  7. Get an adequate amount of sleep to reduce wrinkles. What happens when your body does not get enough sleep (at least 7 to 8 hours) is it produces a hormone called cortisol. It breaks down skin cells and this will promote wrinkles. Sleep is also a natural way to keep our immune system strong and this slows down the aging process as well.
  8. Face Wash

  9. When washing your face, use a product that contains Vitamin E and collagen. This will keep your face moisturized and prevent drying. Also, do not wash your face more than twice a day. Tap water strips away natural oils in your skin which can dry it out. Dry skin is more prone to wrinkles than moisturized skin.
