Pixie Wings
-
Create pixie wings for your homemade pixie costume out of wire hangers, pantyhose, craft wire, duct tape and ribbon. Twist the hangers into a figure-eight. Bend the hangers into the desired pixie wing shape. Use the legs from a pair of pantyhose to stretch over the hangers. Sew the bottom shut and cut any excess fabric. Glue pieces of ribbon to the center of the wings so they can be worn like a backpack. Add glitter, fur, feathers and flowers to the pixie wings for decoration. Homemade pixie wings are different because you are free to choose the color of pantyhose and ribbons. You can choose a simple and elegant decorations or more elaborate.
Clothing
-
Choose a simple leotard and tights for the base of the pixie costume. Make a homemade tutu or skirt out of tulle. Cut 6-inch strips from the tulle. Create a waistband out of elastic. Wrap elastic around the waist and cut where it meets together. Sew the ends of the elastic together. Tie each piece of tulle around the elastic band firmly. Continue adding tulle pieces until the band is full. The color of the tutu, leotard, and tights depends upon the look you are going for. To make the tutu blend with the rest of the entire outfit, choose tights and leotard in a color that matches. To make the tutu stand out against the rest of the outfit, choose a contrasting color such as black.

Accessories
-
A wooden stick, cardboard, glue, and glitter create a pixie wand. Cut a star out of the cardboard. Decorate the star with glitter and glue to the stick. For hair accessories real or fake flowers can be glued to a headband. After using as part of the pixie costume, the wand can be used as a child's toy or hung up on a wall for decoration. You can also wear the hair accessories again as part of a normal outfit.
Shoes
-
Old ballet slippers with a little glitter make pixie shoes. Add glue all over or in just a few areas as desired. Sprinkle glitter over glue and let dry. If you wish to use two different colors of glitter add them separately. Lay the glue design for the first color and add the glitter. Wait until the glue is dry before adding more glue and sprinkling on the second color of glitter. This will prevent the colors from mixing and messing up the design. If ballet slipper aren't available, use this technique to transform any pair of shoes into pixie shoes.
