Can Oatmeal Be Prepared in Advance & Refrigerated or Frozen for Later?
Oatmeal is a heart-healthy breakfast that's warm in your stomach and keeps you feeling full throughout the morning. Oatmeal is made of oats that contain soluble and insoluble fibers. Soluble fibers lower LDL cholesterol and insoluble fibers contain cancer-fighting properties. Instant oatmeal is not your only option for a quick oatmeal breakfast in the morning. Refrigerated Steel-cut Oatmeal

Add 1 cup of steel-cut, or whole grain, oatmeal to 4 cups of boiling water. Simmer for one minute and cover the pot. Place in refrigerator. When you're ready to eat the oatmeal, place it in a pot and cook on low for nine to 12 minutes.
Frozen Steel-cut Oatmeal

Add 1 cup of oatmeal to 4 cups of boiling water. Simmer for one minute and cover the pot. Allow oatmeal to cool. Place oatmeal into freezer bags and store for up to three months. Take a serving of oatmeal out of the freezer the night before you are going to eat it and place in the refrigerator to defrost. Place the serving of oatmeal in a pot and cook on low for nine to 12 minutes.

Simple Refrigerated Oatmeal

Bring 1 cup of milk to a boil. Add a 1/4 cup steel-cut oatmeal to a pot. Place in refrigerator overnight. In the morning, add a teaspoon of honey and cook on low heat for 15 minutes. If the oatmeal is too tight, add a drop of milk to loosen it.
Refrigerated Rolled Oats

Place a 1/2 cup rolled oats (steamed and rolled for quicker cooking, digestion and absorption of carbohydrates) in a bowl with a 1/2 cup of milk. Place in refrigerator. Remove from refrigerator in the morning and place in microwave for 30 seconds to remove the chill.
