What Does F1 Mean on My Frigidaire Oven?

Meredith Jameson

Frigidaire ovens display error codes when key components stop working properly. One common error code is F1, which indicates a specific electronic error has occurred.

What Does F1 Mean on My Frigidaire Oven

Frigidaire ovens typically feature a control panel with keys to set the oven's various cooking, cleaning and timer functions. The control panel also features a display that shows the time of day, the selected operation and any time countdowns. Should a problem occur with the oven, the display will show an error code to indicate that something has gone wrong that requires attention. One such error code is F1, which indicates that an error has occurred with the oven's electronic components.

F1 Error

The F1 error means that there is an electronics failure within the oven. This failure can occur within the keypad itself, the electronic oven control or the oven temperature sensor. The error may also occur if the oven thermostat overheats, as the sensors in the oven cannot calibrate correctly when the thermostat is not functioning properly. The error can also indicate data corruption within the oven's electronic controller.

Oven Temperature Probe

If the oven temperature probe is connected to the oven, it may be the source of the problem. Disconnect the probe from the oven wall and wait 30 seconds, then reconnect the probe firmly in the oven interior. Insert the cooking end firmly into an item you wish to cook and close the oven door. Press the “Probe” button on the keypad and use the keys to enter the desired cooking temperature. Push “Start” to reset the probe and begin cooking. If the F1 error code does not return, the problem is resolved and cooking should proceed normally.

Basic Reset

If the F1 error code appears after resetting the probe, the issue must lie elsewhere in the oven. If you've eliminated the probe as the source of the problem, the next thing to try when an F1 error occurs is a basic reset. Touch the “Cancel” button once the error occurs; the oven will stop beeping and the error message will go away. Once the display is clear, reprogram the oven with its previous settings. If the oven continues without any further error messages, the problem was a basic error and requires no further attention.

Power Reset

Should errors continue after a basic reset, a power reset will sometimes solve the problem. Disconnect the power to the oven and wait 5 minutes. Reconnect the power and reset the clock, then select a basic cooking program and touch “Start.” If the error does not return, continue using your oven as normal. If the F1 error does return, however disconnect the power to the oven again and contact Frigidaire for service. The error is most likely occurring because the electronic oven control is faulty and requires replacement.
