Wind Chimes
-
Make wind chimes to hang outside your front door or in your yard to welcome visitors to your Halloween get-together. Paint the pots and Styrofoam balls with black acrylic paint. Then cut bat wings and ears, cat ears and noses, and witch hats from black craft foam sheets and use a hot glue gun to attach the pieces to the pots. Add facial features to the heads with dimensional paints, acrylics or glued-on foam sheet cutouts and googly eyes. Paint on fangs, whiskers and warts. Glue a small, purchased wind chime, available in most dollar stores, to the inside top of the pot and hang in a breeze.
Tabletop Characters
-
Decorate your Halloween tables and shelves with an assortment of characters. Paint a clay pot and Styrofoam ball white to create the body and head of a ghost. Cut out and glue wavy ghost-like arms from foam craft sheets. Paint black, oval eyes and a round mouth on the head. Make a witch by painting the pot black, adding a foam craft dress and hat and some yarn hair. Add a purchased mini broom and painted facial features. Make groups of ghosts and witches with various sized pots and decorate each differently.

Cupcake Stand
-
Display your cupcakes, party snacks or candies on a handmade Halloween cupcake stand. Use pots in 4, 6 and 8-inch sizes, and trays in 10, 12 and 14-inch sizes. The trays will create a ledge that is wide enough to fit cupcakes. Paint the trays and pots with orange acrylic paint. Stencil or stamp on sayings, images or jack-o-lantern faces on the upside down pots. Stack by placing the largest tray on the table, then the largest pot, middle tray and pot, then smallest tray and pot. Arrange your treats on the trays.
Treat Holders
-
Let your favorite Halloween characters hold Halloween treats. Paint pots purple for Frankenstein, and black for Dracula, a witch and a bat. Paint Styrofoam balls for the heads, with green for Frankenstein and the witch, purple or black for a bat and white for Dracula. Paint on facial features and cut out clothing for the characters from foam craft sheets. Press the Styrofoam head into the edge of the back of the pot, pull it off and add glue, and re-attach it to the ledge. Glue the clothing to the sides of the pot and add straw or yarn for hair, if desired.
