Grant Supervisor Salary
A grants supervisor fills one of two roles -- an individual who works in a supervisory capacity for a grant-making foundation, or an individual who supervisors the grant application, dispersal and budgeting process for organizations that receives a grant. The latter position also goes by the name grant administrator and grant director, while both are sometimes referred to as grant managers. The salary of a grant supervisor depends upon a variety of factors, including the size and location of his employer.

Grant Supervisor Salary
-
Grant supervisors constitute those individuals working in a supervisory capacity for a grant-making foundation. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, or BLS, general and operations managers in the field of grant-making earned $47.82 per hour, as of May 2008. Other administrative employees in the field of grant-making earned between $24.07 and $26.58 for the same period. The actual annual salary for these individuals depends on the number of hours worked per year, given the hourly nature of the salary levels.
Grant Administrator Salary
-
Grant administrators constitute those grant supervisors working for organizations that receive, rather than give, grants. The BLS keeps no statistics on these individuals. Job postings for such positions throughout the United States list salaries of $5,250 to $5,950 monthly; $2,985 to $3,316 monthly; $35,000 to $41,000 per year and $76,000 to $126,000 annually. Because these jobs do not constitute public servant positions, employers hold no legal obligation to make grant administrator salary information public. Due to this, few employers publicly list salary information for such positions.

Factors Affecting Salary
-
A variety of factors affect the salary of a grant supervisor, some more than others. The responsibility of the position and the overall budget and size of the organization for which a grant supervisor works make the biggest impact on salary levels. For instance, a job paying $76,000 to $126,000 per year constitutes a general supervisory position that includes, among other duties, the administration and management of grants for the psychiatry department at Yale University, while a position paying $35,000 to $41,000 entails managing grants for nonprofit organization Feeding America. The lower-paying position requires a narrower focus, as the nonprofit organization maintains zero profitability, while Yale University constitutes an enormous revenue generator.
