  1. Tea Stained Paper Map

    • Make a pirate map out of white paper that has been tinted by tea. Put water and tea into a large bowl. Soak a piece of white paper in the mixture until the paper turns a light brown color. Let the paper dry and then crumple and unfold the paper several times to give it an aged look. Rip the edges to create an even more authentic look. Use black permanent marker to draw the map. Use red permanent marker to make a large red "X" to mark "the spot."

    Brown Paper Bag Map

    • Use a brown paper bag to create a pirate map. Cut one side out of a brown paper bag. Crumple the bag and unfold it to create an aged look. Then use brown and black crayons to rub onto the paper to create an aged look. Draw a body of water with blue crayon and make upside down "V" shapes to indicate mountains. Make a picture of a treasure chest to indicate the location of the treasure. Add a compass for authenticity.

    Map in a Bottle

    • Create a pirate treasure map on a graphic's program on a computer. Print the map and then wad it up into a ball and unfold. Rub a brown ink pad onto the paper to give it an aged look and tear the edges. Then spray the map with water from a squirt bottle to age it even further. Create a pirate-themed bottle to put the map in. Layer a bottle with small pieces of masking tape. Rub brown shoe polish over the bottle to create an aged look. Roll the map up and stick it into the neck of the bottle.

    Other Pirate Map Crafts

    • Use a brown paper towel to make a pirate map. Rip the edges of a piece of brown paper towel and make a map out of black permanent marker. Then crumple the map, unfold it and mist it with water. Once it's dry it will look like an aged pirate map.

Another way to construct a pirate map is to use burlap. Use paint to make a map on a piece of tan colored burlap. Cut a skull and cross-bone shape out of white felt and glue it to the top of the map and cut an "X" out of red felt and glue the elements to the map.
