Fireman Gift Ideas
According to the National Volunteer Fire Council, 73 percent of firefighters in the United States are volunteers, rather than paid individuals. Regardless of this, their service serves to protect people across the country. To properly honor a fireman's service, you can present a variety of gifts to celebrate and recognize his hard work and dedication to the safety of the community.

Framed Photograph
-
Take a photograph of your favorite fireman in his uniform and put together a mat and frame honoring his accomplishments. Purchase a mat for your photograph that's wide enough to accommodate written messages. Secretly ask fellow firefighters to write a personal message to the recipient on the mat. Write additional sentiments for the occasion such as, "Happy Birthday" or "Congratulations," depending on the purpose of the gift.
Shadowbox
-
Create a shadowbox to honor a fireman in your life. Buy a wooden shadowbox at your local craft store. Fill it with photographs, both old and new of your fireman, his station and fellow firefighters. Include additional trinkets such as a fireman's badge or a copy of the key to the fire station. Secure these to the inside of the shadowbox using either straight pins or clear craft glue. Include a plaque in the shadowbox stating the fireman's name and his number of years of service.

Fire Gift Pail
-
Create a fire-themed gift pail. Buy a plain red, orange or yellow pail or bucket to use as the base for your gift. Write the recipient's name on the front and draw flames around the bottom of the pail using paint pens or glitter glue. Fill the bottom with coordinating tissue paper and place the fireman's favorite snack items in the bucket. You might include candy or baked goods. Give this to him before a day on the job so he can take it along with him to the fire station and share the treats with his fellow firefighters.
Kid's Poetry Book
-
Present your hero with a poetry book written by kids. Contact your local school or religious organization and ask if there is a group of students willing to participate in this project. Invite them to write short poems thanking the firefighter for his community service. Encourage children to compose and illustrate their poems on a standard sheet of paper. Combine all poems and take them to a printer to have them professionally bound in book form. Present this to the fireman as a token of thanks from the kids in your community.
