Different Types of Fireworks
People commonly watch fireworks shows for holidays such as New Year's Eve and the Fourth of July. Many different kinds of fireworks make up those shows. Some fireworks are chosen for their loud popping noises while others are chosen for their impressive sparkling displays. Does this Spark an idea?

Firecrackers

Firecrackers were the first type of fireworks created. These were first developed by the Chinese to drive away evil spirits. Firecrackers can be small and cheap or large and expensive. Firecrackers consist of an explosive charge and a fuse wrapped in thick paper. When you light the Firecracker, it will give a loud bang and a bright flash.
Aerial Shells

Aerial shells are one of the most popular types of fireworks. When you light the aerial shell's fuse, the shell will fly into the air, where it will burst. These come in all sorts of colors, and individual shells can be multicolored as well. Aerial shells are the ones most people would recognize from professional fireworks displays.

Fountains

Fountains are different from many other types of fireworks because they do not shoot up into the air when they are ignited. Rather, these fireworks sit on the ground and shoot showers of sparks up into the air. The sparks then fall back to the ground, creating the look of a fountain. These typically do not shoot more than 10 feet into the air.
Rockets and Missiles

Rockets and missiles are another category of popular fireworks. These can be either large sky rockets or small bottle rockets, and they can be placed in the ground or held in your hand when you shoot them. When rockets or missiles are ignited, they shoot high into the sky and can make a loud noise or emit another type of effect, such as a whistle, crackle or stars.
