Food trucks have become a mainstay in American lunch, dinner and late-night cuisine on the street, and the people who manage these vehicles are akin to restaurant managers on wheels. Despite the size of the trucks compared to that of a traditional restaurant, the food truck manager actually makes a salary that's comparable to his on-the-ground counterparts.
Wages on Wheels
Reported salaries for food truck managers vary widely, depending upon the job site. As of 2014, Indeed reports that those who hold this position make about $39,000 per year, while Simply Hired cites $49,000 per year as the average. These food professionals earn about the same amount of money as traditional restaurant managers, who take home about $41,000 per year, according to Indeed. Food truck managers can earn a similar salary because the overhead costs of managing a truck are less than that of a brick-and-mortar establishment.
