The Differences Between CTS & DTS

The CTS and DTS are two models of cars created and manufactured by Cadillac. The CTS is a two door coupe, while the DTS is a four door sedan. The CTS was first released for the 2003 model year and, as of 2001, has a retail price ranging from $35,165 to $62,166. The DTS was introduced in 2006 as a follow up to the DeVille. The DTS ranges from $46,680 to $59,875, as of 2011.

Power

The CTS is available with two different engines depending on trim level. The 3.0-liter models have a 3.0-liter V6 engine that gets 270 horsepower at 7,000 revolutions per minute, whereas the 3.6-liter models feature a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 304 horsepower at 6,400 rpm. The Platinum DTS has a 4.6-liter V8 engine and 292 horsepower at 6,300 rpm, while the other trim levels have a 4.6-liter V8 engine and 275 horsepower at 6,000 rpm.

Fuel

All CTS trim levels with a 3.0-liter engine get 18 miles per gallon in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The 3.6-liter models get 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. The Platinum DTS gets 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway, while all other DTS models get 15 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.

Size

The Luxury and Performance trim levels of the CTS are 191.3 inches long, 72.5 inches wide and 58 inches tall. The other CTS trim levels are 188.5 inches long, 74.1 inches wide and 56 inches tall. All CTS cars have a wheelbase of 113.4 inches and rest 5.8 inches from the ground. All of the DTS models are 207.6 inches long, 74.8 inches wide and 57.6 inches tall. They have a wheelbase of 115.6 inches and sit 5.3 inches off the ground.

Space and Features

Every CTS has room for five passengers, three in the back and two in the front. The DTS has seating for five with optional seating for a sixth passenger between the driver and front seat passenger, which is made possible with a front row bench seat. All DTS and CTS versions have leather seats, except for the CTS Base trim level. All CTS models come with a subwoofer for enhanced bass sound when listening to music, while all DTS models lack this feature. A sunroof comes with all DTS models but the Base V8, which does not have the option of a sunroof. The CTS Base Coupe does not have a sunroof option, while sunroofs are optional for all other CTS trim levels.
