How Can I Get a Copy of My Unemployment Paystubs?
If you need proof of your unemployment income, you can get pay stubs just like with a regular job. In many instances, unemployment benefit pay stubs cannot be used as proof of income. However, you can use them for other things, such as filing your taxes.

Your Benefit Payment
-
Your unemployment benefits may come via paper check. In some states, payments are sent out to claimant via check, which includes a pay stub. Not all states do this; some load the payment onto a debit card or send it to claimants by direct deposit. If you get your payment by check, take a look at the top of the check to see if a stub is attached to it.
Online Copies
-
Some states have secure sections of the unemployment agency website for claimant to access. On these sites, you can usually find copies of your past unemployment pay stubs. For example, Ohio has a secure messaging inbox for claimants. When you access that messaging inbox, you will find pay stubs for each unemployment benefit payment you have received. The pay stubs can be printed or saved as a PDF file onto your computer. Other states may store the pay stubs elsewhere on the website, such as a benefits payment history section on the New York unemployment agency website.

Request Copies Over The Phone
-
If you cannot find copies of your unemployment pay stubs on the agency website or on your check payments, you can make the request over the phone. Each state has a hotline or a teleclaims phone number current claimants can call for assistance. Some states also have an automated self-service number, which does not give you the option to speak to a representative. If you want to ask for copies of the pay stubs by phone, use the America's Service Locator website (servicelocator.org) to get the number for your state. If there are two numbers, do not call the self-service number. Once you get a representative, ask for copies of the pay stubs to be sent to your address on file.
Request Copies Online
-
If there are long hold times when you try to call for copies of the pay stubs, you can make the request online. Each state has a website for the unemployment agency, and each site has a way for you to contact a representative via the site. Some states offer an email address, while other states, such as California, have a form you fill out online and send to the representatives. Do not give your Social Security number or any other sensitive information unless you see notification of secure messaging.
