Surgeons who were paid in the top 25th percentile for this profession earned a salary of $166,400, or an hourly wage of $80.

      According to Allied Physicians 2003-2006 Salary Survey, plastic surgeons earned significantly more than the national average. Allied Physicians' report sets the average annual salary of a plastic surgeon at $412,000. Plastic surgeons who were paid within the bottom percentile for this profession earned $237,000 a year, while plastic surgeons who were paid in the top percentile for this occupation earned a salary of $820,000 a year.

      According to the BLS, surgeons working in Nebraska earned an annual mean salary of $166,400, or an hourly mean wage of $80. The BLS attributes this high pay rate to the overall lack of surgeons in this area. The BLS also reports that Nebraska employed a total of 220 surgeons in 2010.

The BLS attributes job growth to the expansion of healthcare-related industries.
