Esau Preschool Crafts
The Bible story of Jacob and Esau appears in Genesis and offers several lessons to teach preschool children, such as why deception and tricking others can lead to bad things. Craft projects can help reinforce key concepts in the story of Esau and his twin brother, making it more memorable. Tell the preschoolers the story while they are making the crafts or do one as an after-story activity.

Mobile
-
Have each child create a mobile that focuses on Esau and Jacob. Create coloring templates for the young kids and pass them out for coloring in. Make a separate picture for Esau and one for Jacob. Tell the children about the physical differences Esau had from his twin such as red hair and lots of body hair so they can highlight the differences in the pictures. Create another picture that depicts the swapping of soup for the birthright and a separate picture of the soup. After the kids color in each template, have them cut out the pictures with safety scissors. Punch a hole through the top of each one and thread yarn through to create a method for hanging. Hang each picture on a plastic hanger to finish the mobile.
Esau's Bowl
-
Most preschoolers love the squishy feeling of molding and playing with clay. Pass out a lump of modeling clay to each child so they can make a bowl to represent the bowl of stew Esau received from his brother. Instruct the children to roll the clay into a ball and stick their thumbs in the center to form a hole. Pinch around the hole until a bowl shape is formed. Let the pieces air dry for a week and then paint them with nontoxic acrylics.

Esau and his Twin
-
To reinforce the fact that Esau had a twin brother, Jacob, give a painting craft to your preschoolers. Pass out a piece of paper, folded in half, to each child. Instruct them to use paint to make the shape of a person with a head, body, arms and legs. When the person is complete, fold the paper along the crease and press down to form a matching print on the other side. Let the paint dry, and then have the kids color in representations of Esau and Jacob.
Esau's Stew
-
Have the preschoolers create a simple craft that represents the stew that Esau received. Give each child a supermarket circular that has pictures of vegetables and meat on it. Instruct them to cut out the pictures of different things that might go in the stew. Give each child a plastic bowl and have them glue the pictures inside, along with a plastic spoon. Consider serving an actual soup or stew to the class to go along with the lesson.
