The Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular takes place at the Hudson River. In addition to fireworks, fire boats in the river shoot patriotic streams of fire high into the air. The display features approximately 40,000 shells exploding at a rate of more than 1,500 per minute, set off from six barges positioned between 24th and 50th Streets on the Hudson River.

On land, good viewing would be from most of the Fire Island bay fronts and shorelines from Captree to Islip.
