No-rinse shampoo can save you time in the bathroom.

Dry, or no-rinse, shampoo is shampoo you can use without rinsing it out of your hair with water. Using no-rinse shampoo can help you save time in the bathroom each morning. Understanding how it works can help you decide if no-rinse shampoo is right for you. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Types

    • There are two types of no-rinse shampoo: liquid and powder forms. The powder form you sprinkle on your hair. The liquid form is applied to the hair out of the bottle and lathers like rinsing liquid shampoo. Each type of no-rinse shampoo is scented, and there are several brands to choose from.

    Application

    • Work the powder into your scalp using your fingers and comb out the extra. Let the shampoo sit in your hair for a few minutes. Wipe it out of your hair using a towel and clean the towel to remove the residue. Apply the liquid shampoo by spraying it from the bottle directly onto your hair. Massage the liquid soap into your scalp and wipe it out of your hair using a towel.

    Method

    • Both types of no-rinse shampoo work by attaching to oils in your hair, such as sweat and other naturally occurring oils. The oils and ingredients in no-rinse shampoo attract the oils that build up in your hair. Wiping the shampoo out of your hair will remove the buildup, leaving your hair free of greasiness and grittiness.

    Advantages

    • No-rinse shampoos have the advantage of taking less time than water-based hair cleaning. Powder shampoo can be applied quickly and rinsed off within two or three minutes of application. It can also be wiped out of your hair more easily than the liquid type. The liquid type has the advantage of being more effective than the powder.

    Disadvantages

    • Powdered no-rinse shampoo can often leave a dry, white residue in your hair that can be unsightly. The residue can also make your hair feel stiff and unpleasant to the touch. Liquid no-rinse shampoo cleans better without leaving a residue. But neither method can completely replace washing your hair with water --- no-rinse shampoo doesn't remove particles or germs from your hair.
