Tips on Approaching Girls
Approaching a girl, whether it's at school, in a bar or at the gym, can be a nerve-racking experience. Though you want to seem interested, you don't want to come off as overbearing. You can use a few tips when you approach girls that will help you get over your anxieties.
-
Eye Contact
-
When approaching a girl, a confident demeanor will go along way toward helping you develop a meaningful relationship. Maintain eye contact with the girl to let her know you're interested in whatever she's talking about. Don't get distracted by other people or things around you as you talk to her. If she thinks you can't stay focused on her during your first conversation, what incentive does she have to date you?
Avoid Cheesy Pickup Lines
-
"Your legs must be tired because you've been running through my head all day." "I lost my phone number, can I have yours?" Ever girl has heard them, and no girl ever wants to hear them again. Despite what television and movies might have you think, "clever" lines will not help you get a date. Many girls will simply roll their eyes when they hear these lines; they truly prefer a simple "Hello" or "How are you?"
-
Avoid Over-Aggression
-
A big turnoff for girls is a guy who comes on too strong. When approaching a girl, be respectful and courteous, showing her that you can be a gentleman. "Men's Health" magazine warns that by being overly aggressive when approaching a girl, some men do more harm than good. The girl instantly tunes out the guy, even if the two would make a good match.
Be Yourself
-
Perhaps the most important tip for approaching girls is the simplest. When talking to a girl for the first time, don't present yourself as someone you're not. If you're not into working out or going to clubs, don't tell your prospective mate that you are -- you're just setting yourself up for trouble down the road. By showing the girl who you really are, you'll exude more confidence and improve your chances for getting a date.
