LinkedIn is a social network designed to connect professionals and organizations.

You can post LinkedIn updates from TweetDeck by authorizing TweetDeck to act on behalf of your LinkedIn account. Post regular updates for your connections to read, comment on posts made by your connections and send private messages. Posts show up on your profile just as if you had published them from the LinkedIn website itself.

  1. Adding LinkedIn to TweetDeck

    • To post LinkedIn updates from TweetDeck, you must first authorize TweetDeck to access your LinkedIn account. Launch TweetDeck and click the wrench-shaped Settings icon in the upper right corner of TweetDeck. Click the "Accounts" tab in the left side of the Settings window. Click the "Add New Account" button, then click the LinkedIn icon that appears below. Type your LinkedIn email address and password in their respective boxes if prompted, then click either the "OK, I'll Allow It" button or the "Continue" button, whichever one appears.

Setting TweetDeck to Post to LinkedIn

    • You must explicitly set TweetDeck to post to your already-authorized LinkedIn account. Click the "Compose Update" button near the upper left corner of TweetDeck, then click the LinkedIn icon above the update box. This highlights the icon. All future updates from TweetDeck will post to your LinkedIn account until you click the icon again.

    Posting to LinkedIn in TweetDeck

    • With the LinkedIn icon highlighted, type a LinkedIn update in the displayed status box. Click the "Send" button below the lower right corner of the box to post the update. If you do not want the update to post to your other authorized networks -- such as Twitter or Facebook -- click their associated highlighted icons.

Adding a LinkedIn Column to TweetDeck

    • If you want to view and respond to updates from your LinkedIn connections, you must add a LinkedIn column to TweetDeck. Click the plus sign near the upper left corner of TweetDeck. Click the LinkedIn icon in the column adding window, then click the "Create Your Column" button.

Responding to LinkedIn Updates From TweetDeck

    • If you see a LinkedIn update you would like to respond to from TweetDeck, hover your mouse over the user's avatar. Two icons appear inside the avatar: a "dialogue bubble" icon and an "envelope" icon for sending that connection a private message. Click the comment icon and type your comment, then click the "Add Comment" button to publicly commenting on the update. Otherwise, click the private message icon, type a subject line and private message in their respective boxes and click the "Send Message" button.
