Online adult basic education institutes help students to improve basic math, reading, writing and critical thinking skills with the objective of helping them to become more self-sufficient and improve their job skills. Teachers of these courses provide lively training sessions, give students preparative exams, provide study aids, answer student questions, organize course materials and provide student certificates. Most of these companies require basic teaching certifications in addition to taking their training programs.

Because there is no set of national standards for online institutes, teachers who perform telecommunication work with different educational institutions must take individual training courses with each, which can be very time consuming. Conversely, the flexible rates and schedules make telecommunication jobs a convenient option for stay-at-home moms, teachers looking to pick up side jobs for extra money or others who wish to work at home.
