Can You Make Your Tumblr Page Private?
Every Tumblr user can create multiple blogs on the platform. Although the main default blog must remain public and accessible to all, any of the secondary Tumblr blogs associated with the account can be made private so that a password is required to gain access. This covers all of the content posted to that particular blog, and the privacy settings for each one are controlled through the Tumblr dashboard interface. In addition, posts made to any Tumblr blog, public or password-protected, can be made private, which means they are only viewable in the dashboard to the person who created them.

The Tumblr Platform
-
Tumblr is a blogging platform that makes it easy to share different types of content. The main post types are text, photo, quote, link, chat, audio and video. Tumblr users can follow one another in a manner similar to Twitter -- posts from blogs that you are following appear in your Tumblr dashboard. The platform also incorporates a basic messaging system. Several Tumblr blogs can be created from one single account, which can be made public (viewable by anyone) or private (protected by a password).
Make a Blog Private
-
To make a Tumblr blog private, log into your dashboard at Tumblr.com and select the relevant blog from the drop-down list at the top of the screen. Click the "Settings" link on the right and, next to the Password heading, check the "Password Protect This Blog" box. Enter the password underneath, click "Save Preferences" and no one is able to view the blog without the password you've provided.

Group Blogs
-
Tumblr enables you to invite other members to post to any of your blogs. If promoted to admin status, these users can also edit the blog settings and appearance. However, all blog members and admins (including the blog creator) need to know the password to view the blog on the Web. The password can be viewed at any time from the Settings page as mentioned previously.
Private Posts
-
In addition to enabling users to password protect an entire blog, it's possible to create private posts on a public Tumblr blog. On the post creation and editing screen, the "Private" option appears on the drop-down menu underneath "Publish Now." The "Private" option does not appear if you are posting to a Tumblr blog that is already protected with a password. Private posts only appear to the user who created them on the dashboard, and do not show up on the Tumblr blog. For more information, visit the Tumblr Help Center.
