Enjoy crafting with your students.

Teach children about the sweet goodness of all types of grapes by featuring grape crafts. Use paper, paint, colorful magazine pictures and other materials to bring these crafts to life. Enjoy a variety of fresh grapes before crafting to inspire the children's creations and get them excited about this food. You can teach the children how to make edible grape crafts with a combination of grapes and other foods.

  1. Edible Grape Crafts

    • Make edible grape crafts such as mini grape muffins, grape pizza faces or apples with grape eyeballs. Use toothpicks to connect the grapes to the apples and give the kids other foods such as slivered carrots to make hair on top and thin licorice to make the mouth on the apple. Use a cooking paint brush to paint caramel on the top of the apple and then sprinkle carrots or some other type of food on top. Bake grapes into muffins, slather these with frosting and add a few grape slices on top. You can also make a fruit pizza with the kids by decorating a flat pie crust with sour cream sprinkled with sugar and an assortment of different fruits such as grapes, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries.

    Grape Variety Chart

    • Create several grape variety charts with your students. Show the kids picture books of all types of grapes and help them draw and list five or more varieties on white card stock or poster board paper with colored pencils. The kids can also cut out pictures from magazines or print them out from online sources. Grape varieties include Concord, Melody and Mariot.

    Paintings

    • Inspire the children to create grape-themed paintings. Older kids might want to create a vineyard filled with bunches of grapes, while younger kids may paint a picture of purple or green grapes. They can also paint a picture of themselves eating grapes or showcase grapes alongside other favorite foods. Toddlers and preschool students can finger paint clusters of grapes and other circular foods also.

    Felt Grape Bookmarks

    • Help your students make grape-themed felt bookmarks. Show the kids how to cut out dark green rectangular felt shapes that resemble bookmarks. Then help them cut out light green or purple felt circles that are slightly larger than a nickel. Glue the circles close together near the top of the bookmark to create a cluster of grapes. Cut out leaf shapes from more dark green felt and glue these on top of the bunch of grapes.
