Christmas is one of the biggest celebrations of the year, and this holiday usually involves lots of parties with friends and family. Treats are an important part of any celebration and can be used to decorate and set the theme. Rice Krispy treats are made with crispy rice cereal, melted butter and melted marshmallows, which become soft and chewy when they cool off. These treats can be cut in different shapes and decorated to create Christmas treats.
Crispy Snowman Treats
Use your imagination to make adorable Rice Krispy snow men for a fun snack or a table decoration. It is best to to make these treats while the cereal mixture is still warm, because it will be more manageable than if it cools. Use circles for the body and head of the snowman, and use different candies to add details. Experiment, using pretzel sticks for the arms, chocolate chips for the mouth and eyes, fruit roll-ups for a scarf or round peppermint candies for a hat.
Rise Krispy Candy Canes
Shape your Rice Krispy treat mixture into fun candy canes. Share large candy canes with everyone in the family. Smaller Rice Krispy candy canes can be covered with plastic wrap and given as a gift to neighbors and friends. Shape the Rice Krispy treats as candy canes and wrap them with licorice to make this treat. Use frosting to keep the licorice in place. Children will enjoy making this treat to get into the spirit of Christmas.
Christmas Rice Krispy Tree
Use cookie cutters to make a Rice Krispy Christmas tree. The trees can be different sizes, but large ones are the perfect centerpiece for a Christmas party. These treats are easy to make using star cookie cutters of different sizes. The Rice Krispy mixture is rolled thin and flat, and then cut with star cookie cutters. The star shapes are then stacked from biggest to smallest, creating the shape of a Christmas tree. Frosting can be used to keep the pieces in place and to decorate the tree. Green sugar can also be used instead of frosting to decorate the trees. Use a smaller star shape covered in yellow frosting for the star on the tree.
Santa Claus Treats
Cut a round face out of the Rice Krispy treat mixture to make treats in the shape of Santa Claus's face. Cut a shape for the hat as well. Decorate the face with frosting or decorating gel to make the beard and color the red hat. Use chocolate chips for the eyes and red cinnamon candies for the nose. This treat can be made big and cut as a cake for everyone to share or you can make individual faces for your guests.
