Blue Jean Crafts
When your children outgrow their blue jeans, recycle the fabric into stylish and creative craft items. Blue jean material is durable and casual-looking, making it an ideal fabric for a variety of art projects. You can use almost any part of blue jeans, such as the front or back pockets, when making the crafts.

Denim Purse
-
Turn a blue jean back pocket into a charming child's purse. You can use either a pocket from an adult's or a kid's pair of blue jeans to make the craft. If possible, choose a pocket featuring embroidery details for a decorative look. To make the purse, cut out the pocket along with the material behind it. Make a strap by attaching the ends of a wide, sturdy ribbon to each side of the pocket using a hot glue gun. Embellish the pocket with flat-backed beads, faux fur, lace or rhinestones, if you desire.
Denim Pocket Pillow
-
Use an old denim pocket to give a couch pillow a handy and attractive remote control holder. Cut the back pocket and attached fabric off of an adult's denim pants, and cut a piece of fusible webbing to fit the pocket. Take a cover off of a couch throw pillow, and place it on an ironing board. Set the webbing in the desired location on the cover, and place the denim pocket on top. Run an iron over the pocket, which will fuse it to the cover.

Denim Lunch Bag
-
Your kids can take their lunches to school in style using a handmade denim bag. To start the craft, cut a 14-inch section from a denim pant leg. Fold 1 inch of the top down, and sew it around the edges to create a cord casing. Push a 3-foot cord through the casing, and tie the ends together to create a drawstring closure. Cut another piece of denim that is at least a half inch larger than the leg's circumference, and sew it to the bottom of the leg to create the bottom of the bag. Kids can personalize the bag with buttons, beads or fabric paint.
Denim Rose
-
Show a loved one how much you care with a creative denim rose. Simply cut 2 inches off of the bottom of a jeans leg. Loosely roll the denim strip to resemble a rose in bloom. You can either secure the rose together with fabric glue or by hand-stitching it with a needle and thread. You can attach a safety pin on the back of the rose so the recipient can wear it as a brooch.
