Heavy, high-quality fabric is the material of choice for Victorian-style bathroom towels. Damask is also a common Victorian fabric and was originally made from silk, although mixtures of satin and wool are in some damask towels. "Damask" also refers to the style of weaving in a fabric in which a raised design is featured against a smoother, luxurious fabric.
