What Are the Differences Between the Wachovia Gold Check Card & the Regular One?
Wachovia is a financial institution that, thanks to a merger with Wells Fargo, has one of the most extensive financial distribution networks in the United States. There are 9,000 financial centers and more than 12,000 ATM locations available to Wachovia members. Wachovia members have a choice of many types of accounts, including a checking account, for which there are several card options. The two main options are a Gold Check Card and a regular check card.
-
Emergency Card Replacement
-
The Wachovia Gold Check Card has a security feature called Emergency Card Replacement, while the regular check cards do not. Emergency Card Replacement means that if your card is lost or stolen, you can file a claim with your bank and within one business day (or 24 hours pending approval) you will have a brand new card in your hands. Cardholders who do not have this feature may have to wait a week more to receive a new check card in the mail.
Emergency Cash Distribution
-
Emergency Cash Distribution is another security feature that Wachovia Gold Check Cards have that regular check cardholders do not. If your card is lost or stolen, and you need to access your cash immediately (such as when you are traveling overseas, or even in a town where there is no Wachovia bank for you to walk into), Wachovia will make arrangements so that you can pick up your cash at another financial institution.
-
Aesthetics
-
The Wachovia Gold Check Card is, as the name states, gold in appearance. While many customers enjoy having their card the metallic gold, others would prefer something a little different. Other Wachovia Check cards are customizable with the Wells Fargo Card Design Studio. You can choose various solid colors, or upload and select a snapshot of your family, your pet, or any other digital photo you have taken, and place it onto your card.
Other Features
-
All of the other features of the Wachovia Gold Check Card, such as ATM use, funds transfer, web bill payer, ability to use overseas and rewards are the same as any other debit or check card that Wachovia offers. Outside of the emergency card replacement, and emergency cash distribution features that the gold card has, security features are also identical; all Wachovia card users receive a zero liability protection plan at no extra cost to them. This means that if your card is stolen, you will not be responsible for any charges made by the thief, including overdraft fees.
