Fried Chicken Eating Competitions
Fried chicken eating competitions have won a place of honor within the genre of food consumption contests. Major League Eating (MLE), the largest organization (ifoce.com), dedicated to such competitions in the United States, has hosted many of them. Whether they're held at small restaurants or public parks, the goal is the same: eating as much fried chicken as possible.

Verizon VoiceWing competitions feature incredible amounts of fried chicken and Buffalo wings. In 2005, the first such event was held at the Sporty's Beef and Brew in Everett, Washington, and since then, it has gathered professional eaters every year. The star of that competition was Joey Chestnut, who wolfed down 4.51 lbs. of chicken wings in only 10 minutes. One major appeal of this competition is that it offers the winner a prize of $14,000 and the opportunity for the top five contestants to get a seat in the World Championship in Boston.
