Strategies for Fidelity Investments
Fidelity Investments provides a number of different mutual funds, IRA accounts and other investment opportunities for its investors. That wide variety can allow you to build your entire portfolio with a single company, or at least make Fidelity Investments the core of your holdings.

Consolidate Your Old 401k Plans
-
When you leave a job, you have the option of leaving your 401k plan where it is or rolling it over to an IRA account. If you left your old 401k plan with a former employer, moving it to Fidelity Investments can make sense. This is especially true if the 401k has been performing poorly, while your Fidelity funds have been performing well. You can simply request a transfer form from Fidelity, then complete that form and submit it to move your 401k.
Consolidate Your IRA Accounts
-
Many people end up with a number of different IRA accounts, each one at a different brokerage firm or mutual fund company. This can be an expensive mistake, since many administrators charge a fee for managing an IRA account. You can reduce this cost by consolidating all of your IRA accounts under the Fidelity umbrella. Just request a transfer form and submit it to Fidelity.

Use Index Funds
-
If you are looking for a low cost way to build your Fidelity portfolio, an index fund can be a good choice. The Fidelity Investments family of mutual funds includes a number of index funds, including funds that track the Standard and Poors 500 and total stock market indexes. Making these low cost index funds the core of your portfolio can reduce your overall costs and help you make the most of your investments.
Foreign Investments
-
Having part of your investments outside the United States can serve as a edge against currency devaluation, inflation and other problems at home. Fidelity offers a number of foreign funds, including global funds that invest in both U.S. and foreign stocks, international funds that invest all of their money outside the United States, and sector funds that concentrate on a particular region or country.
