Definition
-
Tankini swimsuits gives women the option of wearing a two-piece swimsuit while accentuating the positive attributes about their bodies. A tankini is basically a bikini swimsuit bottom paired with a tank top. It will cover the stomach, which is an area many women are concerned about, especially as they age. Some styles of tankini swimsuits have features that make the waist appear smaller while providing a lot of tummy control.
Slimming Styles
-
Anne Cole and the other designers of the tankini use spandex or a blend of Lycra and nylon to achieve the tankini's slimming features and achieve a greater level of control in the tankini tops. Full-figured women who want to achieve a slim appearance can wear a tankini designed so that no gaps exist between the top and bottom of the swimsuit. This will keep the tummy from bulging out of the tankini.

Plus-Size Style
-
The plus-size tankini has slimming features for the waist and hip areas, and can either minimize or enhance the bust area. Boxer bottoms offer support and also come in styles with an elastic waistband. Boxer bottoms provide maximum coverage for the hips and upper thigh areas. Since the tankini comes in many different colors and designs, women can mix a darker bottom with a lighter top with flattering designs in order to give the appearance of a smaller bottom area. Tops that have a higher blend of Lycra will provide greater support for the bust area.
Flattering Aspects
-
Women who do not have much of a waist can wear a tankini that is dark in color from the bottom to the middle of the rib cage, and lighter and brighter colors in the bust area. To draw the eye away from a problem bottom area, choose a tankini with a skort -- skirt and short combination -- which will draw the eyes away from the bottom toward the top of the tankini.
