State Pride

Create a floral marketing display that incorporates the state flower and other state symbols in a bouquet or other floral arrangement. For example, the Nebraska state flower is the Goldenrod and the state bird is the Western Meadowlark. Start with a piece of Styrofoam. Center an arrangement of Goldenrod flowers. Around the flowers, into the Styrofoam alternate the U.S. and Nebraska state flags, finish with greenery to cover the Styrofoam. Add Goldenrod flowers to an arrangement of white carnations, tuck into the flowers a few Western Meadowlark birds. Wrap the vase in red, white and blue ribbon. Create a poster using both the national and state mottoes. Glue sprigs of the state flower in a circle around an American flag.

The American flag, more than any other symbol, is the one most often seen and used on the Fourth of July to express patriotism.
