While on the campaign trail, you are able to run attack advertisements, give customized speeches, plan a thorough election strategy, and execute other tactics.

It allows you to run a presidential campaign as a real candidate, as well as an option to create your own character. Every candidate has a varying level of proficiency in areas such as stamina, charisma, intelligence and integrity. The game lets you do everything from building campaign headquarters and appointing consultants to carrying out political research and spending money on advertising. In order to succeed, you need to make the most of your money and capital, balancing fundraising with creating a strong grassroots movement.

    eLECTIONS: Your Adventure in Politics

    • The free, online "eLECTIONS: Your Adventure in Politics" is aimed at kids. It is based on the "Life" board game and intends to help players understand how an election campaign works. You can play against other players or the computer, and you have to make decisions affecting the outcome. The game is heavily focused on learning and uses multimedia content from C-SPAN, the History Channel and CNN.

    President Elect

    • "President Elect" was released in 1981 and is thought to be the first-ever political simulation video game. The game allows you to run any campaign from 1960-84. It has simple graphics and text-based menus. You compete as a real candidate or create your own to run as a third-party candidate. Much like more modern games, you raise funds, organize debates and perform public relations stunts. An updated version of the game was released in 1988 and included a hypothetical Ronald Reagan vs. John F. Kennedy scenario.
