How to Make a Horse Shoe Wreath

Things You'll Need

  • Foam florist horseshoe

  • Florist wire

  • Water

  • Fresh flowers

You can make a horseshoe wreath out of basic floral materials.

Horseshoe-shaped wreaths are traditionally used as a display at a memorial service, and created using fresh flowers. Although you could purchase a horseshoe wreath from a florist's shop, they can often be very costly. One alternative is to create your own horseshoe wreath using fresh flowers and a few craft supplies that can be purchase from any craft or art supply store.

Step 1

Dip a foam florist horseshoe into and out of water. This will enable fresh flowers to stay fresh for a longer period of time. If the form is soaked too long, it will drip when hung on the wall.

Step 2

Cut the stems off of fresh flowers, leaving about 4 inches of stem remaining.

Step 3

Starting at one end, insert a flower into the foam horseshoe.

Step 4

Add another flower as before, inserting it close to the first flower. Make sure the flowers are packed tightly enough the completely cover the foam base.

Step 5

Repeat this pattern until you reach the top of the horseshoe.

Step 6

Insert a flower into the foam on the other end of the horseshoe.

Step 7

Continue adding flowers until you reach the top again. By this point the wreath will be full of flowers.

Step 8

Twist florist wire around the top of the wreath to hang it up.
