How to Get on "Yard Crashers"

The next time you go shopping, you might just bump into the host of DIY Network's "Yard Crashers." And if you're really lucky, the host and his team might follow you home and transform your yard into something spectacular. But none of that will happen unless you know how DIY Network chooses yards to feature on this favorite TV series.

How "Yard Crashers" Works

The premise of "Yard Crashers" is simple. The crew hides out in a home improvement center and ambushes a shopper. They follow the person back to their home and give his or her backyard a complete makeover within two days. According to one of the show's hosts, Matt Bladshaw, "nine times out of ten" the homeowner chosen for the show was truly just roaming the aisles of their local home improvement store. But he also admits, "We do have backups that we do call in if the day is looking pretty slow. We can't afford to have a day that we don't find anyone."

How to Apply

To be considered as a backup homeowner for a "Yard Crashers" episode, you'll need to draw the attention of the show's producers. To do this, upload photos or videos of your yard to the show's website. Be prepared to tell the team about yourself: your name, address, phone number, a brief description of your town and why you think the "Yard Crashers" team should fix your yard.
