“Age of Empires III” is a strategy game that features historic battles in both single-player campaigns and online multi-player modes. The game is played from a third-person isometric perspective which allows the player a bird’s-eye view of his armies and cities. Though active units are highlighted when behind buildings or walls, rotating the camera view may offer a better visual. Rotating the camera is not enabled by default and must be turned on.

Enter the menu screen by launching the game or by pressing the “Escape” key while in-game.

Select the “Help and Tools” button in the main menu and then click on “Options” from the tools menu. The options screen will appear.

Choose the “Game Options” tab.

Check the bubble next to “Allow Camera Rotation” in the “Game Options” screen.

Click on the “OK” button to confirm the change and close the options screen.

Press and hold the “Control” key while pressing the “Left” or “Right” arrows to rotate the camera view while in-game. You can also press and hold the “Shift” key while rotating the mouse wheel up or down.
