Whether you are at a local little league sports game or just wandering through your neighborhood, you might find someone trying to sell you something. If you want to compete with all the other concession stands in the market, you will need to develop a niche. If you choose your concession stand niche successfully it will reduce your competition and help develop a regular clientele.

Coffee Stands

Coffee concession stands can be designed to offer a variety of different coffees or be marketed with a niche. The coffee stand can offer a specialty such as flavored coffees or certain styles such as a cappuccino or latte. Some coffee concession stands have been known to use seductively dressed employees or themed outfits for each day of the week to set them aside from their competition.


Popcorn can be sold in a variety of different types and styles at events such as sporting events, circuses, movies and carnivals. The popcorn can be traditional served plain or with salt or butter. Flavored popcorn using seasonings such as spice blends using cayenne or other spices. They can also be served using flavors such as caramel or mixed with caramel and nuts.

Dessert Stands

Concession stands can feature a variety of different dessert items as a specialty at events such as fairs or community events. The dessert concession stand offers items such as slices of cakes, small cupcakes, chocolates, ice cream and dessert crepes. The dessert stand can be further customized to attract a niche clientele by offering deserts from a specific country or region of the world.

Prepare Your Own Food

Concession stands can be set up to provide a food item that can be customized in many ways, along with the ingredients to customize it. A pasta stand could offer a variety of different sauces along with containers holding different types meat to top them. A taco stand can provide soft and hard taco shells, beef and chicken, and a variety of different toppings for the customer to top her own taco. This can also be done with hot dog stands, with the hot dog and bun sold and then a large selection of toppings for the customer to put on the hot dog.
